Per The Washington Post on August 21, 2015, July sales were the strongest in 8 Years for the 3rd months. The National Association of Realtors said that sales of existing homes rose 2 % last month. The fastest increase since February 2007. Over the past 12 months sales have gone up 9.6%. The number of listings have declined 4.7 %. The median home price went up by 5.6 % in the last 12 months to $234,000. Only 28 % of last month sales were first time home buyers. The Washington Post reports that first time home buyers historically were around 40% of sales. The sales increase in July occurred in the South and in the West. In the Midwest sales remained unchanged and in the Northeast sales slipped. Remember, not every real estate market is the same.
